Swede, Erik Johansson returns to the ADAC GT Masters this coming weekend with MRS GT-Racing.
Johansson raced for MRS last year and won a race at the Red Bull Ring together with Jens Klingmann in their BMW M6 GT3.
The 24-year-old replaces Mick Wishofer alongside the continuing Maximilian Hackländer. The team’s original pairing took a third place in MRS GT’s Porsche 911 GT3 R at the season opener in Oschersleben.
So far this season Johansson has competed with MRS in the North American Porsche Carrera Cup but will now contest the remainder of the ADAC GT Masters season at the Sachsenring, the Hockenheimring and the Nürburgring.
“A driver change in the middle of the season is of course not ideal,” says team manager Iris Dorr. “With Erik Johansson, however, we are occupying the driver’s seat with an ‘old’ friend. Erik fits in perfectly with the team and has been driving for our offshoot in the USA for the entire season. We regret the departure of Mick Wishofer and thank you for a great season so far.”
Callaway Bounce Back After Lausitzring Fire
Callaway Competition have completed the rebuild of their Corvette C7 GT3-R, which was badly damaged in a fire at the Lausitzring despite the tight timeframe and considerable damage.
“The most important news, to begin with, was that the chassis and passenger compartment remained intact.
“Due to the great amount of heat generated, the entire front end including the engine had to be replaced. Special thanks go to our suppliers who, despite the short timeline, were able to provide us with missing components quickly and easily.”
