Richard Antinucci and Danny Formal have claimed overall pole positions for this weekend’s Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America races at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
It came amid a pair of incident-filled qualifying sessions that saw both feature red flags.
Antinucci reeled off a best lap of 1:24.967 in his No. 27 Dream Racing Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo to go quickest in Q1.
It was 0.193 seconds quicker than the No. 1 Prestige Performance with Wayne Taylor Racing entry of Kyle Marcelli, whose co-driver Formal claimed pole in a truncated Q2 session with a 1:25.408 lap time.
Nelson Piquet will start third overall for Race 1 of the weekend in his No. 3 ANSA Motorsports entry.
Q1 ended early after an incident for the No. 51 Taurino Racing entry of Claude Senhoreti in Turn 6.
An incident by Sergio Jimenez in Turn 2 saw a brief red flag in Q2, with the session restarting with less than four minutes left on the clock.
No improvements were made at the top of the time charts, leaving Antinucci to start second for Race 2, ahead of the No. 6 O’Gara Motorsport/US RaceTronics Lamborghini of Jacob Eidson in third.
Pro-Am class poles went to Bryan Ortiz (Precision Performance Motorsport) and Patrick Liddy (O’Gara/USRT), while Luke Berkeley swept Am class poles in his No. 23 Dream Racing entry.
John Hennessy will start on pole in both LB Cup races as well in his O’Gara/USRT Lamborghini.
The first race of the weekend is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. PT with live coverage on Lamborghini.com, Trackpass on NBC Sports Gold and IMSA.tv.
