Sport Cars – 10 Cheap Convertibles That’ll Make You Feel Like A Million Bucks
Sometimes convertible cars can cost a fortune. Sports cars such as the Aston Martin DB9 Volante and the Bentley Continental GTC often come with incredibly high price tags that many would love to be able to afford. And as with most convertibles, these cars are also often well-equipped, high performers, and luxurious.
However, there are a number of cheap convertible cars that will make owners feel like a million bucks when driving them. The cars on this list may not be the most expensive, but they do often have the same opulence and status associated with the more expensive convertibles.
10 Mercedes SL Series (R107) ($12,000)
Launched in 1971, the Mercedes SL R107 was truly an elegant car that deserves plenty of credit. The car was available in multiple engines, plenty of them being V8s. The car had much life to it too, with the SL receiving a facelift nearly a decade on.
The car itself was Mercedes only ever roadster to be manufactured at the time of its production. Being a classy convertible, the SL R107 is definitely a brilliant investment to make. It looks expensive, but expect to pay around $12,000 for one of these classy cars.
9 Audi S4 Cabriolet ($11,000)
The Audi S4 Cabriolet was made in 2004. The car is incredibly stylish and comes with a 4.2-liter V8 engine, making the car sound especially brilliant when the roof is down. The 339bhp exemplifies this car as a brilliant performance vehicle as well as being fantastically fashionable.
The car is good with speed too, but the car can offer a relaxed drive that is easy to use and is definitely luxurious. There was also room for 4 people. Buyers can purchase one for $11,000, which really isn’t a bad price for this package.
8 Volvo C70 ($9,500)
The second generation of the Volvo C70, released in 2006, was a retractable hardtop convertible. The car is big, allowing for four seats which makes the car a roomy vehicle. The car definitely looks the part but also performs well too. Volvo added neat handling to the vehicle and drivers and passengers alike are comfortable in the C70.
The car looks stylish, especially with the roof down, but the mechanism is quite difficult to work out at first. Enthusiasts who want to look stylish in a well-performing car can purchase a C70 for $9,500.
7 Porsche 987 Boxster ($16,000)
The Porsche 987 Boxster is truly an all-rounder. It is an enjoyable car for users to drive and ride in. The car looks the part and is certainly a great performer. Not only is there a great gearbox, but the car is one of the most practical Porsches one could ever buy.
The car looks elegant too, and it has the design that is truly reflective of a Porsche. Prospective buyers can purchase one without the high price tag too since the cost for a good Boxster is about $16,000.
6 Audi TT Convertible ($15,000)
The second generation of the Audi TT Convertible was launched in 2006. The car was definitely a performance car and was available in a (thirsty) VR6 version for those that enjoy a bigger engine. The car was generally enjoyable, and styling has been key.
Audi experienced very little problems with the TT Convertible in the second generation. Buyers can get one for a good price at around $15,000. Not really a bad price for a good car that is definitely expensive looking for buyers to look cool in.
5 Chevrolet Camaro Fourth Generation ($12,000)
The car looked futuristic and with its great performance and speed, buying one of these for around the $12,000 price figure is a fantastic way to buy a car that is fast and a head-turner.
4 BMW 3 Series Convertible E46 ($13,500)
The convertible version of the BMW 3 Series E46 was released in 2001. The car was RWD and had great handling to go with it. The weight-distribution of the E46 cannot be knocked either, and performance was pretty much on point in the car. Its competitors like the Audi A4 could not measure up.
There is definitely a good status aligned with the Convertible E46, not just through its performance but through its looks too. Paying $13,500 for a brilliant car on the road (and track), is really little to pay when it will make drivers feel like a million bucks.
3 Cadillac Eldorado Ninth Generation ($19,000)
Launched in 1971, the ninth generation of the Cadillac Edorado was launched both as a coupe and convertible. This generation was the first Eldorado available in a convertible form since 1966. The car was a premium personal luxury car with a V8, reflecting how big the vehicle was.
Prices for a good ninth-generation Eldorado are around $19,000. For a car that is compared to the Rolls Royce Corniche and the Lincoln Continental MkIV, whilst looking extremely luxurious and dominating on the roads, this price is pretty good and will make drivers feel especially confident.
2 Alfa Romeo Series 4 Spider ($12,500)
The Alfa Romeo Series 4 Spider was launched in 1990/91. As with the other Alfa Romeo Spiders, this one had a great engine with brilliant handling to match. The version in the 1990s is sometimes considered as moving away from the previous launches of the Spider, but the car still has fantastic looks and quality.
The car sold well in North America especially and was a true reflection of Italian design and engineering. It looks good and is a cheap way to buy a Series 4 Spider without breaking the bank, which can be the case with the previous generations which are incredibly desirable.
1 Chevrolet Corvette C4 ($20,000)
Launched in 1983, the Chevrolet Corvette C4 was equipped with a fantastic engine. The convertible version came a year later. In the car, the L98 5.7-liter V8 was great. With 238bhp it certainly had plenty of power, even though it couldn’t go higher due to the oil crisis, the car was still good and power was boosted to 300bhp in 1992.
Prospective buyers can purchase a C4 for $20,000, and with the Corvette looking brilliant and extremely ’80s, it was also a practical car. Despite being on the more expensive side of this list, the car is definitely worth the price to pay to be a head-turner in a practical car that also performs fantastically.
