The real-life model will soon be going into hibernation. The virtual counterpart is going full throttle during this period. On 7 November, the Digital Nürburgring Endurance Series presented by Goodyear will start its third season.
The US tyre company will thus remain a series partner of the DNLS. The schedule once again includes five races that will offer thrilling motorsport in the virtual Green Hell over a distance of three hours. The other dates are: 12 December, 9 January, 13 February and 6 March.
So even in the cold season, no motorsport fan has to miss out on his beloved Nordschleife. All races will take place on a Sunday. The race will start at 1 p.m. each day. An interesting innovation will be pre-reports, which will be accompanied from the green screen studio at the Nürburgring by our presenters known from the NLS. The livestream will be presented by Lego Technic.
The online nomination will probably be possible from 1 October. The announcement will also be published shortly. In addition to the GT3 cars, vehicles from the Cup 2 (Porsche 911 GT3 Cup), SP10 (GT4 cars) and SP3T classes will start in the DNLS. In the GT3 class SP9, the rule that at least one driver per vehicle must come from real motorsport remains the same as in previous seasons.
“Authenticity is particularly important to us. The spectators can identify even more easily with the vehicles, teams and drivers they know. It is also great for our sim racers to compete with the best real drivers. Therefore, we are looking forward to welcoming some well-known drivers and teams from both worlds to the DNLS in the coming season as well,” explains Christian Stephani, Managing Director of VLN VV GmbH & Co. KG.
As an additional incentive for the teams, 8,250 euros in prize money will be offered across all classifications. In the most important classification, the “German Payment Championship”, it pays off to be fast and to complete the five races in the 2020/2021 season without any special incidents, because points are awarded across all classes for the top three in the race, the pole position, the fastest race lap and the lowest iRacing incidents.
