Farmington, NM – Update: Michael McCraren, Hannah Cornelson Killed in Crash on Navajo Rt-5


Farmington, NM (October 11, 2021) – Authorities with the New Mexico State Police have released the identities of two people who were killed in a car crash last Tuesday, October 5th. The double fatal accident was reported on Navajo Route 5, just south of Farmington.

Authorities say that a 27-year-old man from Surprise, AZ, was operating a Maserati when he collided head-on with a 2021 Volvo SUV. Emergency responders arrived at the scene a short time later to assist those involved.

The driver of the Volvo, identified as 50-year-old Michael McCraren, of Tucson, AZ, was pronounced deceased at the scene. One passenger in the Maserati, 28-year-old Hannah Cornelson, of Surprise, AZ, was taken to a local hospital in Farmington where she was pronounced deceased.

Both the unidentified driver of the Maserati and an unidentified passenger in the Volvo were also taken to a hospital in Farmington. The passenger in the Volvo was later airlifted to a hospital in Albuquerque. Their present conditions have not been reported.

At this time, charges may be pending against the driver of the Maserati, but few other details have been provided. The events that led to the crash remain under investigation.
