Garena Free Fire has crossed 1 billion downloads on Google Play Store. It is the first battle royale game to achieve the milestone on Android. The game was developed by 111 Dot Studio and published by Garena back in 2017.

Free Fire was also the most downloaded game of 2020. The battle royale game has announced that it is celebrating the downloads milestone with a special in-game event. However, no details have been revealed at the moment.

The special in-game event will take place in August that coincides with Free Fire’s 4th-anniversary celebrations. The battle royale game will announce more details on its social channels.

Commenting on the achievement, the battle royale game stated that “This latest milestone builds on Garena Free Fire’s efforts to provide an accessible and enjoyable battle royale experience catered specifically to smartphone users. Part of the efforts include continuously delivering engaging content for its global community of users and providing esports platforms for the game’s top players to compete and entertain.”

This year, Garena Free Fire has collaborated with McLaren Racing, Street Fighter V, One-Punch Man, and Attack on Titan to resonate with players. 

For the uninitiated, Garena Free Fire is a battle royale survival shooting game and includes various playing modes. It also offers various events, rewards, and more. The game gained popularity post-PUBG Mobile ban in India and still continues to rise. Garena Free Fire competes against the likes of Battlegrounds Mobile India and Apex Legends Mobile in India.
