Ferrari are back on track after a disappointing 2020. The Italian team showed at the Monaco Grand Prix that it can compete with the best drivers and will be fighting for third place in the Constructors’ Championship this season.
The Formula 1 team is doing well, according to Jean Todt. The FIA president has a rich past with Ferrari and has especially many positive words for Charles Leclerc. “With the competitive Ferrari he has shown he can win. Our sport needs a strong Ferrari. The steps forward seem interesting,” he told Corriere della Sera.
While Mercedes and Red Bull Racing are in full contention for the world championship this season, Ferrari are making great strides in the background. Todt has a feeling that Ferrari is coming. “I think there is desire and capability. At the driver level, things are going well with Leclerc and (Carlos, ed.) Sainz. They are among the best.”
Leclerc drove an excellent qualifying in Monaco, but hit the wall hard with his car in Q3. Sainz kept his car on the track though and finished in second place.
