During the British Grand Prix press conference, the 2-time Grand Prix winner clarified that it was a pointless rumor. He further affirmed that he would be entering the new F1 era with his much-loved racing team, Scuderia Ferrari.

The rumors that I’m going to Red Bull are literally rumors. Probably someone got bored and decided to do something. I believe in the people I work with, in Ferrari, in our project. I will enter the new era with Ferrari,” Leclerc said, according to Motorsport. (Translated from Turkish)

Leclerc‘s contract with Ferrari is still very much alive, having signed a 5-year deal, back in 2019. The Monegasque and Ferrari agreed to terms with the contract following the 2019 F1 season, in December. Hence, Leclerc is likely to stick with the team until the end of 2024.

What’s more, he has constantly pointed out that he is keen on further extending the contract with the Maranello outfit.

Can Ferrari fight for the F1 championship in 2022?

Ferrari may have been going through a rough patch since 2020. However, the Reds have certainly made some leaps in the development sector, which includes building a new simulator.

Hence, Ferrari could be the surprise factor going into the highly anticipated 2022 season. And of course, a team needs a worthy enough driver to even wish to battle for the championship title. And they do possess that; Leclerc and the newly recruited Carlos Sainz.
