On Wednesday, Police Chief Robert J. Contee III called it a road rage shooting. The incident was captured by a nearby surveillance camera and can be seen in the video below.

“I’m disturbed every time I see that video and I hope that the community is as outraged as I am,” Contee said. The woman who was shot suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Her children, ages 5 and 11, were in the car with her at the time.

“This individual felt it was necessary to use gun violence to deal with his anger,” Contee said. “I am here to tell him that that is unacceptable in the District of Columbia.”
