North Wales has once again been the location of choice for a luxury car brand looking to launch a new model.

Nearly every top name in motoring has come to the region to shoot their vehicles with the stunning Welsh scenery as a backdrop.

The latest is Bentley with the new Bentayga S, a sporty version of their SUV, designed and engineered in the UK and manufactured in Bentley’s carbon-neutral factory in Crewe.

They came to Snowdonia for the shoot with locations including Afon Mawddach near Barmouth, Y Migneint between Ysbyty Ifan and Llan Ffestiniog and Morfa Bychan beach near Porthmadog.

Jim Jones, the chief executive of North Wales Tourism, said: “This is brilliant and timely news because we are gearing up for a busy summer now that the tourism and hospitality industry is once more opening up to trade.

“We can offer a variety of stunning backdrops so we were delighted but not surprised that a luxury marque like Bentley has once again chosen North Wales as the perfect location for their glossy promotional campaign for their glamorous, top of the range SUV.

“Bentley are regular visitors to North Wales and a host of leading automotive brands like Aston Martin have followed in their tyre tracks, while it’s traditionally been a popular area for filming by the Top Gear team.

“Our growing profile was recognised by Lonely Planet when they named North Wales as one of the world’s top four must-see places.

“This has not happened by accident. We have always had the raw material in terms of our breath-taking scenery and mountain ranges and brilliant coastline.

“Added to that we have loads of adrenaline-charged attractions like Zip World, Adventure Parc Snowdonia, Go Below, and the like which have been a game changer in the way the region is perceived.

“Equally, we’ve got world class heritage sites with the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and the castles at Beaumaris, Caernarfon and Conwy.

“We also have a growing range of accommodation that can cope with the demand for our world-class attractions.

“After the darkness of the past year, the arrival of the Bentley Bentayga S is helping us to rev up for a much brighter future for North Wales.”
