Two British car restorers – GTO Engineering and RML Group – are currently racing each other to bring out Ferrari 250 GT replicas based on restored and modernized classic cars, and the latter seems to be winning the race.

A while ago, RML showed us a life-sized mock-up of the car (see video), and has now revealed its cabin and some technical specifications.

The short-wheelbase coupe is a Ferrari 550 Maranello at heart, but an all-carbon body gives it a lightness of step unmatched to that of the stock model made of aluminum. 18-inch wheels come wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires. As you may remember, the company had considered going for custom-made tires in this project, but the idea was scrapped to reduce maintenance costs.

Bilstein shocks made way for Öhlins dampers optimized to the weight distribution and aerodynamic profile of the restomod. The springs and sway bars have likewise been swapped out for their modern counterparts, bringing the car closer to the ground. The battery was moved to the trunk.

The momentum generated by a 5.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 goes through a six-speed manual gearbox to the rear axle, hitting it with 485 PS (478 hp / 357 kW) and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque. Going 0-97 km/h (0-60 mph) takes 4.1 seconds, and the top speed lies above 297 km/h (185 mph).

Found inside are power-adjusted seats and steering wheel, HVAC, and a multimedia system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Look for the infotainment display hidden in the transmission tunnel behind the exposed shift gate. There is not a single bit of plastic in sight – only leather, Alcantara, glass, and aluminum.

The production car is expected to debut in the coming fall. A total of 30 units are planned for shipment starting from early 2022.
