Golf tournament honors wife, mother battling ALS
Friends and family sponsored the successful “Team NSF for ALS” Golf Tournament on Aug. 29 at Juniper Hills Golf Course in Northborough.
Team NSF is named for Nicole Ferrari, the wife of Hudson native Michael Garcia. Ferrari has been living with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s disease) since her diagnosis ten years ago.
Michael and Nicole live in Ashland with their teenagers, Avery and Chase, both of whom assist in her care.
The tournament raised nearly $25,000 to support ALS research and care.
Christine (Garcia) Comfort of Shrewsbury joined her brother, Michael, and many others in sponsoring the Golf Tournament.
Christine also ran with Michael in the Falmouth Road Race for ALS on Cape Cod earlier this month.
“She is such an inspiration and warrior who is filled with such energy and kindness,” Christine said of Nicole.
Former Hudson residents Christine and Michael are the daughter and son of Denise and Joe Garcia of Mashpee, who are Hudson natives and former residents themselves.
