However, he’s steadily improving and even scored his first points of the season with a P5 finish at the Monaco GP. Hence, team principal, Otmar Szafnauer feels that Vettel is close to being 100%.

Now, with newfound confidence after the race at Monte Carlo, Vettel is optimistic about achieving a similar result at the upcoming race at Baku next week. The German would use the words of his boss to help get better results over a race weekend.

As quotes by GP Fans, Otmar said, “He is not a hundred percent there. I spoke to him about it coming into this weekend (Monaco) but he is close.

“He feels much more comfortable, and after every race and qualifying session, he gets closer and closer. I’ve talked to other drivers, too, who have switched teams and are going through the same or similar process and they said their guess was it was going to take about five races for them to really feel comfortable.”

“My guess for Seb, I mean we are trying to predict the future, is that it will probably be in that realm too,” Szafnauer concluded.

The German wants to replicate Monaco performance at Baku

The four-time world champion seemed to have found his old form when he was zipping around the streets of Monte Carlo last weekend. Vettel qualified seventh for the race and finished in fifth, earning 10 points in the process. Hence, he urged his team to do the same at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

As quoted by GPFans, Vettel said, “It’s a street circuit, even though the nature is very different because it is very fast with one long straight line but we will see. Fifth is a very strong result for us and we will take the points. Hopefully, we can be similarly strong in Baku.
